2. Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport
   Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport is located 20 kilometres east of Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe. Renamed after one of the founders of Zimbabwe Dr J M Nkomo, the airport is the gateway to the City of Kings and Queens as well as to world heritage sites Khami Ruins (ancient architecture) and Matobo Hills (bold beads). It also caters for regional traffic. The runway is 2588 metres long and 45 metres wide. The airport operates 24 hours per day.
3. Victoria Falls Airport
   Victoria Falls Airport is located 21 kilometres from the Victoria Falls Town Centre. It provides direct access to the Seventh Natural Wonder of the World  and Heritage Site Mosi-oa-Tunya on the River Zambezi, also known as the magnificent Victoria Falls. The runway is 2286 metres long and 30 metres wide. The airport operates 12 hours per day.

Kazungula is a small border post settlement in Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe close to Botswana, Namibia and Zambia. Just to the west is the Botswana border village of Kazungula, from where there is a ferry service for vehicles across the Zambezi River to the town in Zambia also called Kazungula.
Kazungula is linked by a tarred road to Victoria Falls, 70 km east.

Ensure that you have relevant vehicle registration documents, and if you are hiring the vehicle, a letter from the bank giving you permission to take the vehicle across the border. A police clearance may also be required (Jun-12). If you enter Zimbabwe with your own vehicle you only need the original registration document (take copies to hand in) and your driver’s license and passport. If the vehicle is registered in the name of a company or somebody else’s name, you need to have a letter on an official letterhead stating that you may take the car through the border. If the owner is not the driver, it should be stated in the letter that the owner or company has given permission for the driver to drive the vehicle.

Chirundu  Border Post

Chirundu is a village and border post in Zimbabwe on the border with Zambia, in Mashonaland West province. The name Chirundu means “people following one another in a line or queue” probably referring to the crossing of the Zambezi river by bridge at Chirundu. The village is located on the banks of the Zambezi river, and as a result it lies in the hot Zambezi Valley. It is the site of the Chirundu Bridges, two of only five road or rail bridges across the Zambezi river.

On the Zambian side of the river is a slightly larger town also called Chirundu. The bridge is the principal border crossing for traffic travelling from Harare in Zimbabwe, to Lusaka in Zambia. Chirundu is surrounded by wildlife/safari areas, elephants frequently wander around the village. It is also a popular destination for fishing..

Zimbabwe enjoys a lovely temperate climate. The central Highveld plateau has temperatures coming up to 28°C/82°F. Lower-lying parks like Hwange and Zambezi NP are warmer year-round and temperatures can reach 31°C/88°F. Mana Pools, Matusadona and Gonarezou are even lower and get hot, with temperatures soaring to 35°C/95°. The Eastern highlands are much colder and receive significantly more rain.

During the wet season, from November to March, rains usually fall in heavy afternoon showers, but they can sometimes be lighter and continuous for a couple of days. The dry season, from April to October, is pretty much rain free and colder. Nights and mornings can be as cold as 5°C/41°F to freezing, but daytime temperatures are still pleasant with a great deal of sunshine. During the dry season there is virtually no rainfall and humidity is low. Wildlife will concentrate around waterholes and rivers when other water resources dry up.

April, May – This is the end of summer. Temperatures are relatively cool, typically around 10°C/50°F in the morning and 28°C/82°F in the afternoon. The nighttime temperatures start to drop. By May, the rain is almost gone.

June, July & August – Be sure to pack warm winter clothes because morning game drives in open vehicles will be cold. The average morning temperature is 6°C/43°F. Afternoons will be more pleasant with temperatures around 25°C/77°F. Parks at lower altitude will be warmer.

September, October – The heat gradually builds and reaches its annual peak in October. The first rains can fall by late October, bringing relief from very dry conditions. The lower lying areas get very hot in October with temperatures of 32°C/90°F and well above. The increasing humidity can make it feel uncomfortably hot.

Wet season – November to March – Summer. November – This month is unpredictable and it might start raining some afternoons. Temperatures are between 18°C/64°F in the morning and 32°C/90°F in the afternoon. Parks in the central Highveld plateau will be colder and parks at lower altitude will be considerably warmer. In the low-lying parks temperatures can frequently peak at 40°C/104°F or higher throughout the wet season.

December, January & February & March – These are the wettest months, characterized by torrential downpours in the afternoon and sometimes continuous rains for a couple of days. Nights and mornings are warm at around 18°C/64°F. Afternoon temperatures are around 30°C/86°F and the humidity is high, making it feel hotter.
